Whenever you visit the grave, make sure that you clear away any debris that has gathered, as this is known to cause stains if left unattended. I tell all my parent friends that they should always talk to their children about great things, about the great men. that ever existed and still exist on this planet. If you want your child to become a great man or a great woman, you have to share with him this world of greatness. Tell them inspiring stories, tell them the stories of those great men that fought for their dreams,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], for what they believed in and how they eventually got what they wanted,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how they eventually achieved what they dreamed for. If you do this, you will plant in their minds the seed of greatness. They will be inspired and they too will strive for great things. They will know that if others did it they can do it too.
How many parents really know how to properly raise their children? I personally believe that there are many parents out there who are really struggling. There are also parents that know exactly how to do their job and they do it in a miraculous way. I saw a mother once in the park with her 15month old baby girl and this girl took a fall. Not an ugly fall but for a baby it was pretty much. You know what the mother did? I was amazed. She reply to the little girl:”It’s OK sweetie. You are OK. Get up and go play with your friend.” The little girl did not make a sound. Nothing. I know that the fall is always associated with the mother rushing toward her child and see if the child is hurt or not while the child starts crying. You know,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it made me think. It’s the parents that really get the children to cry? When a baby sees all the attention and the worries on his or hers parents face, the baby gives them what they are unconsciously or consciously expecting. It’s that simple.
I also believe that it is very important to pay attention and not to impose your fears, doubts and limitation on your children. The vast majority of the parents do just that. I can tell you from my own experience. All the things I was told about what is and what isn’t possible, about what I can and can’t do… It’s insane. There are times when I get really frustrated and mad on my parents for telling me all that nonsense but I know that they did their best. It’s not their fault. They raised me in the way they were raised and they told me what they were told by their parent. They told me what they knew to be true at the time. I don’t care if you are his parent or not, I don’t care if your child is really slow or not. That’s not how you talk to a human being, especially with a little child. It’s so wrong. Many parents do act like this and when their kids grow old and start acting disrespectful toward them, the parents are really offended and can’t seem to understand what have they done wrong. The way you treat your children is how they will treat you later on in life. They might not do it because they hate you or something but because that is the only thing they know how to do. Many people don’t know that when they are telling their children all the stories about the things that are about to be true and not so true, they are in fact limiting them. They are limiting their children. Let the child experiment. Let him dream. Let him use his imagination and creativity. Allow him to travel with his mind all over the world and all over the universe. Don’t impose your limitations on him. If you see the world as being full of horrible people, misery and poverty that does not really mean that the world is exactly the way you see it. If you share with your children all your worries, all your limiting beliefs you are also limiting his beautiful mind. You are not allowing him to just be who he really is. You are not allowing him to really be happy.
But if on the contrary, if you choose to talk to them about all the horrible things that are happening in the world,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], about all the things that are missing from your lives, about your unhappiness and lack of ambition, about all the violence hate that you know is present in the world, you will raise your children the same way you were raised by your parents. So decide right now to change the way you talk to them, to change the way you respond to the many questions that come your way on a daily base from your precious children. Take time to teach them valuable lessons. Take time to talk to them about the wonderful things that are happening in the world and about the wonderful things that are about to happen. About the things that can happen if we start believing that they can happen. Tell them who they really are and what are they capable of doing because if you don’t do it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if you don’t tell your children who they really are and how much they are worth, somebody else will.

Modern day living, with worries about work, family and money, is a massive strain. We can often feel overloaded with stress and our immune systems suffer. Next, we end up sitting in a doctor’s waiting room for a “traditional” quick fix (that’s if we can get an appointment which is stressful in itself!). However, if our body is already depleted, we might need a long-term health plan. Reviewing lifestyle and trying an alternative therapy such as aromatherapy may be a step towards better health and well-being. Aromatherapy works on healing the whole body; helping us physically, mentally and spiritually, working on our energy centres, known as chakras. Many therapists believe that when chakras become blocked, it manifests as a physical illness. Aromatherapy is not a replacement for traditional medicine but a natural remedy which may often be used alongside it according to a person’s medical history. It can bring our system back in balance and stimulate our body to heal itself and maintain a sense of well-being, by helping to improve symptoms of illness without the side effects of popping a pill.
Roman Chamomile: Relaxing; helpful with combating depression; calms anger; relieves headaches. If you are in an anxious state, try a simple chamomile tea bought from a health shop to soothe your nerves.
Aromatherapy for me is a wonderful therapy, offering blends of aromas transporting you to times and places of feel good emotions accompanied with a professional massage to help restore mind, body and soul. We often take it for granted that we are surrounded by an abundance of healing plants and flowers, full of living energy which could ease our ailments.

These 5 (and a bonus) key elements for seeking help for eating disorders are crucial for true success. Many people search for decades and spend thousands of dollars on programs that don’t give them results. It’s easy to let the desperation of this disease drive you to spend money now and ask questions later. It’s important to let your head and intuition – not your emotions– make your decision. You deserve to be (and can be) totally free from your problems. While only you can issue the permit for freedom, getting the right help along the way can make all the difference in the world.
5. Recovery includes changing your life.
How we live determines how we feel about ourselves. How we feel about ourselves determines how we eat. Therefore, in order to eat differently we have to live differently. Many treatment centers consider a person to be “cured”, or well on their way, if their symptoms of anorexia, bulimia or obesity lessen while in treatment. (If anorexic, they gain a few pounds; if bulimic, their episodes decrease or stop; and if obese, they lose some weight.) The problem is that they eventually have to leave treatment and return to the same life that perpetuated or caused their problem in the first place. This is why relapse is so common.

The truth is that eating disorders, emotional eating and addictions are driven by a soul-sickness that no amount of intellectual understanding or personal will power can heal. A person must be given spiritual tools they can use and rely on when their own personal resources fail. It’s important to note that there is a difference between spirituality and religion, and in this case I’m suggesting the use of the former. By being encouraged to cultivate a belief in a higher power that is loving and ever-available for support and strength, a person can begin to depend on that power for the intervention and grace that can help them stop their destructive behavior.
4. The solution must address the underlying causes.
There is no hope of overcoming an eating disorder without looking beyond the eating disorder. Obsession with food and weight and other addictions are symptoms of deeper problems. They conveniently distract us from extreme unhappiness and self-loathing that lie underneath the surface. Any treatment program that focuses on primarily on food, body image and weight management is missing the point.
3,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Help must have a spiritual component.
Much of the help available today primarily addresses the psychological and physical aspects of eating disorders. Unfortunately, this isn’t enough. People spend years in therapy and working with dieticians yet continue to harm themselves with food. Their brains are filled with sound psychological insight as well as information about calories, exercise, eating schedules and nutrition, yet they continue to give in to cravings for hamburgers and ice cream!
Having been helping people with eating disorders, weight loss and addictions for 20 years, and having overcome an eating disorder myself,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I have identified 5 key points that I believe are crucial for successful treatment. When researching your options, have this checklist available. The closer your options come to meeting these criteria,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the better your chance of success.
2,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Seek help from those who have “been there”.
We have been used to being told by well meaning therapists, doctors, dieticians and coaches to just “eat less, exercise more, moderate your portions, etc.” It’s sound advice but close to impossible to follow at times if you’re a real emotional eater. There is a “disconnect” when you are trying to get help from someone who doesn’t truly know how you feel. Somebody who has not lived the hell you are living (the self-hatred, the insanity of the food obsession and the powerlessness to control oneself, etc.) will have trouble reaching you because in the back of your mind you are thinking: “they don’t really understand”. It’s too easy to tune them out – feeling even more isolated and alone with our problems than ever.
A person must be supported in looking at the cause of the self-loathing and subsequent self-destruction. (We don’t ever just happen to hate ourselves.) We are engaging in destructive thoughts and actions that cause us to believe we deserve punishment. By changing these thoughts and actions (most of which have little to do with food and body) we can feel deserving of better self-care. Anyone who has struggled for more than a few years with an eating disorder,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if honest, will be able to admit that their problem really isn’t about food. Finding a program that reinforces this and addresses the real problem is essential.
Eating disorders are a symptom of living a life that is severely out of balance. Recovery comes when a person makes concrete, significant changes in her life. Change must be deeper than body behavior and diet. Change includes communication, thoughts, relating to people, priorities and attitude. There is no 30 day program that will automatically cause a person to overcome an eating disorder or help a person lose weight for good. It is the hard, but necessary, ongoing changes in one’s life that enable a person to break free. Be sure that the help you seek isn’t skin-deep. There is no success without a commitment to real life change.
The bottom line is that getting help from those who have actually “been there” and overcome it (that’s important) is the only way to receive help in the deepest way. Not only will the information make sense because it’s based on personal experience and not book knowledge (which has never worked for us) but it will penetrate into our hearts. Our hearts open when we believe that those who are helping us truly understand what we are going through.
My experience with all eating disorders is that eliminating the immediate symptom does not end the more persistent compulsion and obsession with food and weight – another significant component of the problem. A life time of obsession and dependence on the eating disorder as a life coping tool cannot be cured in 30 days. This doesn’t mean someone has to struggle with food the rest of their lives either. But recovery requires vigilance in self-awareness and self improvement. Don’t be tempted by a “quick fix”. Seek a real solution based on ongoing inner and outer change and you will come to appreciate the life lessons the eating disorder is here to teach you.
Bonus: It needs to work,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!
“Does the treatment work?” Believe it or not, people forget to consider this critical question when evaluating options. They also forget to ask this of themselves after receiving help. People turn to treatment centers, doctors and counselors for answers but never stop to ask if the help they are receiving is actually making a dent in their actual behaviors. They may feel comforted, supported and heard, but is it actually changing their symptoms? And if the answer is “yes”, ask how much are the symptoms changing. Most people feel that going from purging 7 times a day to 3 is good enough. But how good can one’s quality of life be when one is still purging (or bingeing) at all? I am well aware that progress of any kind is never to be discounted. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I have had the privilege of routinely witnessing people’s symptoms being removed completely. In light of the knowledge that a person can be totally free of their eating disorder, settling for “a little less self-destruction” doesn’t seem like such a great deal after all. Be sure that the help you’re seeking isn’t just a “feel-good” measure, but an actual solution that shows results.

An Anger Journal
Healthy expression of your anger and being free from the traps of anger will require you to take some action. For the next month, keep an anger journal. Each time you feel angry, irritated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], impatient or frustrated, write the situation down in your journal. How did you handle your anger? Analyze what you think is the root cause of your anger. Write down an assertive response to your anger. How can you change your thoughts to let go of the anger? At the end of the month, look for patterns. Do you consistently deal with your anger in the same manner or does it vary? Review the four roots and identify any consistencies in your own anger. Now that you have a good understanding of your anger, you can make different choices. Stop now before you react to your anger. Make a mental note of what's driving your anger. Then you can choose a healthy response to your anger.
Another anger trigger is self-absorption. We are born selfish. Think of a two year old. What is her favorite word? You guessed it: Mine! As we mature,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we hopefully learn that the world does not revolve around us, and it's important to think of other people. Sometimes, however, it's easy to slip back into our old patterns. We want time for ourselves, and our anger gets triggered because our child will not go to sleep. Or perhaps you've planned a night out with the girls, and your husband calls to inform you that he has to stay late at work and cannot be home for the kids. You are angry because he has (or his boss) interfered with your plans. Does this mean we don't have a right to feel angry? The answer is no, but we do have to step outside ourselves and consider the needs of those around us. It is possible to balance our needs with the needs of others. Lastly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the fourth root symbolizes our fear. Anger is often triggered by fear. What are you afraid of? The pile of bills may mean you will be in debt forever, or you'll never have enough money to retire. Conflict might mean someone is going to leave you. Fear is your imagination running wild. Reassure yourself that everything will be okay,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or that you can handle whatever life has to offer.
The Roots of Anger
Before you can learn to express your anger in a healthy way, and be released from the chains of anger, it's helpful to understand what is at the root of your anger. This requires us to stop long enough to examine our anger before we react. If you will, picture a plant with four roots. Each root represents a core trigger for anger. Sometimes our anger is triggered by our need to control,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or have control in our life. When our children misbehave, our anger can be triggered if our goal is to control their behavior. Control is an illusion because we can't control other people. We can, however, control our response to our anger. The second root represents our feelings of insecurity. When someone criticizes us, our insecurity can cause us to feel angry. The core issue is really about whether or not we feel we are good enough. We can learn to evaluate what we want to believe about ourselves. Sometimes the criticism may be valid, but others times it is not. Another person's opinion does not need to shake our self worth.
The Faces of Anger
Anger is a normal human emotion. It is considered the emotion of self-preservation. Anger may appear when someone talks to us in a disrespectful tone of voice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when the bills pile up, or when traffic is causing us to be late for an appointment. Anger shows up when people don't listen to us,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], don't do what we want them to, and when we're overwhelmed with 100 things to do. Anger has many faces: frustration, impatience, annoyance,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], bitterness, irritability, criticism, temper tantrums, rage, and even depression. A lot of us don't like to talk about anger because it's considered "bad" to be angry. Anger, in and of itself, is not wrong. Mishandling your anger can, however, be harmful to you and others around you.
Just this morning, my five year old came stomping through the kitchen with a big scowl on his face. He was angry. We have recently developed a schedule board to help Ian plan his day. He loves to follow his schedule, and he was planning on getting ready and dressed for his day from 8:00 to 9:00 in the morning. Mom threw a little monkey wrench in his plan when I told him he needed a bath before he could get dressed. Knowing that mom was working, he raced off to get dad out of bed. Dad, however, had a different agenda. He wanted to sleep in, and he wasn't about to get up to give Ian a bath. Oh no! His plan was messed up and the result was anger. Thankfully, Mom taught him how to rearrange his schedule so that it was playtime between 8:00 and 9:00, and getting ready for his day was now pushed to the 9:00 to 10:00 time slot. A little flexibility and a lot of toy cars,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Ian's anger quickly dissipated.
What is Your Style?
According to Dr. Les Carter, author of The Anger Trap and a leading expert on the subject of anger, there are three styles for handling anger. Some people are passive, and they stuff the anger inside, all the while pretending that everything is okay. Others are aggressive. When they are angry, you definitely know because they shout, scream, spew out angry criticisms, and even slam doors and cabinets. The third style of dealing with anger is the passive-aggressive approach. When someone is passive-aggressive with their anger, they appear, on the surface, to comply, only to seek revenge in a secretive way. Examples would include people who are nice to your face, but then criticize you behind your back, or people who agree to do something they don't want to do, and then purposely choose not to follow through. The preferred, and the healthiest way to handle your anger is through assertive expression and then letting it go.
Anger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while a normal part of life, does not need to hurt your relationships or spoil your mood. By the way, it is 10:00 and Ian is bathed, dressed and ready for his day. He's right on schedule!

I started to hear all about how we could align with the energy of the Universe, or God energy and that God wanted us to have every good thing. That sounded really good to me. In fact,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in my heart of hearts I knew that God truly wanted me, and all of his creations to thrive and be outrageously happy. After all,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that's the very nature of God,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I thought. But I never really heard about HOW to receive or line up with what I wanted in a way that allowed it to be my life experience. I desired Law of Attraction Relationships and to connect at the highest levels with someone I could love unconditionally.

Does your child always insist that they’re right and everyone else is wrong? Some kids have a bad habit of asserting their opinions by drowning out everyone else in the room—regardless of whether or not they know what they’re talking about. Understandably, this overbearing behavior can be very annoying and frustrating for both parents and family members alike.
This is very important for kids to understand: There’s a difference between his or her opinion about things and the way the family structure—and the world—operates.
If your child tends to be argumentative and you stay in the argument with them, it makes them feel more powerful and in control. Don’t forget: kids only have the power you give them. Some of the power they need to have is very important; it helps them develop their personal and social lives. In fact, it’s very important that they gain increasing access to power as they grow older and individuate more. On the other hand, when it comes to discussing house rules or consequences or privileges, I think that after they state their opinion, you say, “I understand,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but this is the way it is,” and then leave. If you stand there, they think it’s OK to keep talking. When you get out of the situation, it takes the power out of the room.
Don't Let One Child Ruin It for Everybody
When your child has come up with some erroneous statement in an attempt to prove their point,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the best thing you can do is state your opinion honestly. When they state their counter opinion, you can say, “That’s really interesting. I have to go downstairs now.” If what they are saying has to do with health or safety: then you should correct it and walk away.
If family members are having dinner, watching TV or a movie together at home, don't let one child dominate the conversation in such a way that it blocks everyone else from expressing their opinions. It's very important to understand that while everyone's opinion is valued, it's usually valued once. After that, it becomes harassment. If one of your children doesn't like what you're having for dinner or doesn't care for the movie choice, give them their options and don't let them sit there and continue to annoy everyone with their negativity. Always have a back-up plan. This usually includes having them go to their room until they can let go of the topic or complaint they're stuck on. This does not have to be a punishment or consequence. It's just a time out for your child in his or her room, until they can get off the subject. Often, when kids are over-stimulated, anxious or frustrated, it's hard for them to switch thoughts on their own. A change of scenery and a few minutes away from the stimulation can be very helpful.
If your child is trying to start an argument with you, don’t keep it going. Parents often feel like they have to get the last word in to be in control, which in reality only serves to further the child’s urge to argue with you. If you disagree with your adolescent child, they often think it’s because you don’t understand what they’re saying, so they’ll keep trying to put it another way.
